Engineering and Maintenance

Engineering and maintenance is one of the UK's broadest sectors. Almost 5.7 million people work in engineering in the UK - could one of them be you?

There are many companies in Cheshire and Warrington that employ engineers; from manufacturing cars at Bentley Motors, to producing electrical circuits at Altimex, to helping keep NHS hospitals running. Engineering covers a huge range of different jobs, and there may be one for you! To work in this industry, you should have great communication skills, be able to work in a team, and be good at problem solving.
Engineering can take a variety of forms – civil, military, or mechanical but the term ‘engineering industry’ is normally used in a more limited sense to describe the industry devoted to the manufacture of engines, machine-tools, and machinery. Design engineering can be an exciting and rewarding career as at the end of the process you will have a finished product. Engineers may use CAD and 3D printers to design. Maintenance engineers could work on the front line of a factory diagnosing breakdown problems, ordering parts and fixing machines. Maintenance engineers work in all fields of engineering.
Over 29,000 people in Cheshire and Warrington work in the Engineering sector, more than the UK average.
